Features and Benefits
Why use Hardslick
Hardslick is TiAlN with an additional coating to add lubricity to the surface. It is good for cutting all steels, stainless and iron. This product comes in with an oily feel as that is the extra lube package added. The only down fall to this product is when applied to HSS or Cobalt tools it tends to make them more brittle. If chipping or fracturing occur please revert to TiN or TiCN.
Advatages to Powder Metal
Powder Metal falls between Carbiden and Cobalt on the hardness scale. Particals can can be up to 78HRc but average hardness is 73HRc. Powder metal come in many different blends and is used when carbide is fracturing and Cobalt is wearing from heat. This is a great alternative to carbide as it can be ground to very sharp edge do to its small partical density. It can take high load cutting at close to carbide surface footage. It excells in high temp alloy machining as with its ability to have sharp edge and toughness in high tensile strengh aplications. It is used many times in aplications wear machine tool cant acheive recomended surface footage for carbide.
